Weekend shop ride - Absolute Beginner!

Righteo all you absolute newbies to mountain biking, this weekend's shop ride is just for you! We're calling for all riders - yep, just because this weekend's ride is aimed squarely at beginners, it doesn't mean that all the dusty old trail dogs can't join us too! Beside's, what better way to introduce newcomers to our incredible lifestyle than by riding with experienced MTBers? So here's the story - We'll start out at the usual meeting point (the main car park) and from there we'll ride the easier trails in the park. And we're only going for one hour, so it won't be too taxing on anyone! So if this sounds like your cup of tea, we'd love to see you there. Here's all the finer details: WHEN:

Well, it's that time again to have another Bourkes Bikes Weekend Shop Ride. This week's edition sees the return of Paul and Mags, who have been away from Taree for about five weeks (lucky devils!). The downside of being away from home is that they haven't been on a mountainbike for five weeks also! We reckon they'd be jonesin' for a good old fashioned smash around the Kiwarrak MTB Park. Consequently, we're holding an intermediate ride so they can shake out all that MTB energy they've built up over the last five weeks. Ths Saturday's ride will most likley involve some decent climbing as well as a bunch of the really fun (translation: technical & jumpy) trails that the local trails have to off

About two weeks ago we had an incredible gravel grind organised for a Saturday, only to be thwarted by good ole' Mother Nature and a good spot of rain in the 24 hours leading up to the ride. Unfortunately we had to cancel the ride, but now we're gonna do it again! There's one big difference though for this ride - we're doing it on SUNDAY! Reason? We've heard some rumours that there's a few roadies who'd love to join us but can't on a Saturday due to club racing commitments. So, after chatting to a couple of the regulars who said that they'd also be able to make Sunday, we've decided to test it out! It'll be the same start point and route as the previously organised one. Meet at the intersect

Righteo all you crazy MTB freaks, time for another famous Bourkes Bikes weekend shop ride! This time it's gonna be hairy and scary - an intermediate ride for all of you who want to test your mettle. And which scary trails are we going to assault on this epic pedal? THE 20KM LOOP! For those of you who don't know the 20km loop, you should just adopt the idea that this is just pain, pain, pain! Whilst 20km wouldn't be much on a gravel grind, in the forest it's considerable, and when you see the trails it takes in, it almost becomes a death march! So if you haven't figured it out by now, this ride is NOT for beginners or those with some handling skills but no fitness. This ride is much more suit

Okay all you dirt road riding nutters, it's time for another of our famous gravel grinds! Ordinarily we'd be on the mountain biking trails on a Saturday, but Mick can't help himself. He's just gotta go for a gravel grind, so that's what we're doing! And this weekend's ride is a humdinger! We're going to start at the intersection of Old Bar Rd and Crow's Nest Rd, which is on the right hand side of the road about 500m before the Old Bar dirt bike circuit (Check out the map - link below). We'll thread our way through the maze of lovely dirt roads all the way to Saltwater Reserve via the Five Islands vehicle/hiking trail. Once there we'll crack out any munchies you have packed and have a mini p
