Righteo all you serious gravel grinders, time to lube up the chain, put a couple of bucks in the top tube bag for a midway refuel and join us for a SUPER SERIOUS gravel grind up, up, up the Comboyne Escarpment.
Yep, this week's shop ride is really only one for those riders who have a big engine or low gearing.... or both!! Its the.....
BOURKES BIKES 'THIS IS SERIOUS MUM' LONG GRAVEL GRIND!!!
If you haven't guessed by now, this one's not really for those who don't do a whole bunch of riding and don't like climbing at all. Here's why....
See that? That's the profile for the ride - over about 35km there's just on 1,465 vertical metres of climbing. That's a fair fistful of metres to pull your bike up!
Now, having said that, there are two options for this weekend's gravel odyssey. You can join us on THE BIG FELLA RIDE, which a distance of 85km with 1465m climbing and descending starting and finishing in Taree. Alternatively, you could join us for the RITE OF PASSAGE RIDE, where you meet us at Upper Lansdowne Hall and only tackle 40km with just under 1,000m of climbing and descending.
It sounds like a bunch, but just check out the scenery. The picture at the top is of Saville's Rock, a prominent feature of the Upper Lansdowne skyline - we ride right past it. And the image below is an example of some of the incredible sheer cliff walls we ride next to on the way up to Comboyne.
To help you decide which crazy ride you want to join us on, here's the itinerary for Sunday:
7:30am - BIG FELLA riders meet and leave from intersection of Cedar Party Rd/Irkanda Dr. 9:00am - BIG FELLA riders meet up with RITE OF PASSAGE riders at Upper Lansdowne Hall.
